Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Mrs. Maxwell, 2nd grade teacher from Dean Street School, would often proclaim there is no such thing as a stupid question.  Hopefully, our answers are sound as well.  If you don’t see your question here, reach out via the contact form, give us a call, or send an email and we’ll do our best to get your question answered asap.

What does your company do?

We help our clients design and implement innovative technology strategies and solutions.

How much do your services cost?

Most of our services can be estimated based on your project scope.  If your project lacks clarity or definition at this point, we can always utilize our no cost assessment to get our arms around your project to get you headed in the right direction.

Do you sell software licenses as part of your solution?

We are not a reseller of hardware or software but can work with you to assist in acquiring the necessary hardware or software for the success of your project.

What does a typical project look like?

There is no such thing as a typical project as each project is quite unique.  We can say that most projects follow a similar pattern.  There is an initiation phase, followed by a design phase, followed by engineering, then delivery and transition.  Most of the training necessary can be accomplished by a train-the trainer approach.  Some larger CRM or ERP projects have called for a more formal training solution.  Some projects are performed at the client location or across multiple locations and others are completed almost entirely remote.   Our projects will follow the delivery methodology specified by a client or OCTANE’s methodology or even a combination of the two as specified in the initiation of the project.  We are a flexible organization and can incorporate client specific specifications, timelines, resources and processes to meet your goals.

Why might I want to utilize your innovation center?

Our innovation center is available as a client resource as much as it is our own.  The IC might be used to validate your ideas by demonstrating a proof of concept.  The IC is also used to house staff that might not be able to reside at a client location, but need to be in proximity to collaborate during a phase or the duration of a project.  Other uses include testing, training, and providing additional support to our clients on an extended basis or as needed.

How long will my project take to complete?

Some projects last a few weeks and others are measured in months.  Regardless of how long it takes to produce your solution, you will know early in your project when your delivery is scheduled and what to expect along the way.  You and your staff will be engaged and involved in the process from beginning to end as much as you would like to be although it is necessary for you/your team to actively participate to achieve the best results.

Do you do work outside of Wisconsin?

Absolutely!  Many of our client locations are outside of the state of Wisconsin.  We have performed for clients in all regions of the United States and have completed projects throughout North America, Asia, and the E.U.
